Daniel Schreiber, born in 1977, is a German writer, translator and essayist based in Berlin. His books connect personal experience with research, literature and social questions. They include Nüchtern, Zuhause and Allein.

For me, this is not only a book about grief. It concerns life in a period when much of what once seemed stable no longer does.
Schreiber connects lived experience with larger questions of the present. That approach is close to a kind of writing I value: personal without being private, theoretical without being academic, and readable without simplifying the question.
